What is inside the price of a dry sauna here

We price a finished room, not a flat-pack kit left at your gate. That covers the sandwich walls and ceiling, the benches, the door, lighting, ventilation, the heater itself and the electrical run that feeds it.

• Five-layer walls: panel, 50 mm rockwool, a foil vapour check, a vented 20 mm cavity and the visible cedar or thermowood face.
• Aspen or abachi benches, fixed with hidden hardware so no metal ever touches skin at 90 degrees.
• Harvia, Sawo or Tylo heater complete with guard rail, stones and either a wall panel or an app to run it.
• An 8 mm tempered glass door as standard, or a full glass wall if you want the room to read bigger than it is.
• Supply and extract ventilation sized to the room, SiHF cable, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB.

Almost every household asks the same three things before signing off: how hot does it get, how many people fit, and what does it cost. Short answers: 70-90 degrees, two to eight people, and the table further down.

Why dry heat still makes sense in a humid city

The pushback we hear most is that the city is already hot enough without adding a sauna. But the point was never extra heat - it is dry heat. At 10-20 per cent humidity your sweat actually evaporates and cools you, something the outside air at 80 per cent humidity will not let happen. Fifteen minutes at 80 degrees followed by a plunge is exactly why the pairing has caught on in gyms along Jalan Pengayoman and houses across Panakkukang.

What the coast changes is the build, not the concept. Salt air off the strait rolls into Tanjung Bunga and the CPI reclamation most afternoons, which is why every external fixing we use is stainless and any outdoor cabin gets a roof of its own. Inside, the foil layer and the ventilation gap are not optional extras - skip them and a cabin that looks flawless on handover day will smell of damp by its third wet season.

Power, from a 5,500 VA house to three phase

Before we talk wood or glass, we talk power. A two-person cabin with a 3.6 kW heater runs on 5,500 VA as it stands. Step up to four people at 2x2 m and you need 6 kW, which means a PLN upgrade to 7,700 VA; six people at 2.4x2 m calls for 8 kW and 11,000 VA, eight people at 3x2.4 m for 9 kW, and past 10.5 kW you move into three-phase territory.

That upgrade is billed by PLN direct to you, and we hand over the figure before any deposit changes hands, not after the panels are already cut. A lot of older houses around Pettarani and Tamalanrea are still sitting on 2,200-5,500 VA, and in a three-storey cluster house the cable run alone from the main board to the top floor earns its own line in the quote. If an upgrade genuinely is not possible, we say so at the survey, not later.

Timelines, districts and what happens on site

Count on one to two weeks in the workshop, then two to four weeks of installation on site. That covers Panakkukang, Hertasning, Tanjung Bunga, Tamalanrea, Daya and Sudiang, reaches out to Sungguminasa and Samata in Gowa, goes as far as Maros near the airport, and climbs up to Malino for the occasional weekend house.

The final day looks the same on every job: we bring the cabin up to working temperature with you standing there, check the ventilation, the guard and the ELCB, hand over the drawing and warranty card, and leave you to it.
