Sauna and ice bath prices in Makassar
This is the sauna price list we quote from in Makassar: a dry sauna of 2x2 m for four people at IDR 60-120 million, a prefab cabin at IDR 15-35 million, infrared at IDR 30-70 million, a steam room of 2x2 m at IDR 50-100 million, and a cold plunge with chiller at IDR 45-90 million. All figures are indicative rupiah and include installation across Makassar, Gowa and Maros by our own crew.

What moves a price inside its range?
- Size and capacity. From 1.5x1.2 m for two people to 3x2.4 m for eight, the figure climbs with panel area, bench length and heater rating together.
- Interior timber. Pinewood sits at the bottom of the range, red cedar in the middle, thermowood and selected cedar at the top. Aspen or abachi benches are included either way.
- Heater and controls. A Harvia heater, or Sawo or Tylo, with digital or app control; a floor-standing model that people walk around costs more than a wall unit.
- Glass and stone. A full 8 mm tempered wall and backlit onyx add roughly 15-30 per cent over plain timber panels.
- Electrical work. A new run from the main board to the third floor of a cluster house in Hertasning, SiHF cable, a dedicated breaker and an ELCB. The PLN upgrade to 7,700-11,000 VA is paid by the owner directly.
- Location. Makassar, Sungguminasa and Maros carry no travel charge. Malino adds one materials transport line because of the distance and the climb.
- Condition of the space. An open rooftop needs a roof, an old bathroom needs its floor lifted for a fall to the drain, a garden needs decking and light foundations.
What it costs once it is running
A dry sauna adds IDR 200,000-500,000 a month for a family using it three or four times a week, an infrared cabin IDR 100,000-250,000, a steam room IDR 300,000-600,000 including water, and a cold plunge IDR 300,000-700,000, because the chiller works hardest in the dry season when afternoons reach 32-33 degrees. Those are household tariff figures; a gym running twelve hours a day should expect considerably more.
Maintenance is undemanding. Heater stones are replaced every one to two years, benches are lightly sanded once a year, the plunge filter is rinsed monthly and the steam generator descaled every two to three months. Before asking for a quote it is worth comparing the dry sauna, the infrared cabin and the ice bath side by side, since the cheapest to install is not always the cheapest to live with.
Frequently asked questions
Do these prices include delivery to Gowa and Maros?
Yes for Sungguminasa, Samata, Pallangga and Maros as far as the airport side. For the villas above Malino there is a single materials transport line in the quote, not a daily technician charge.
How are payments staged?
Fifty per cent on agreement of the itemised quote, which releases fabrication in Panakkukang; a second payment before installation begins; the balance after the test heating and handover. The survey and the estimate cost nothing.
Why does a builder in Java sometimes quote less at first?
Because the first quote often omits sea freight for 300-600 kg of panels, port handling, and flights and hotel nights for two technicians, plus the same again whenever a service call is needed. Ask both parties for a complete itemised quote and compare the final line.
What is not included in these figures?
The PLN upgrade, civil works outside the cabin such as a new terrace roof or a rebuilt bathroom floor, and anything an architect specifies beyond the sauna itself. Each of those appears as its own line so nothing is buried. Book the free survey through the contact page.
