Prefab versus custom: what you actually give up

A custom cabin gets drawn for your specific room; a prefab sauna gets drawn once and built over and over, which is exactly why it costs roughly a third as much and turns up in days rather than weeks. Panels come in fixed widths, the bench layout is already set, and the heater is a choice between two sizes. What you trade away is the ability to fill an odd-shaped corner or run a full glass wall.

For a first sauna, this is about the easiest entry point going in this city, and if you move house later the cabin comes apart and travels with you rather than ending up in a skip.

Why local stock beats a container from anywhere else

The alternative is waiting on a container. A cabin ordered online from Java or overseas shows up as a 300-600 kg crate, spends five to nine days at sea, sits at Makassar port, and then still needs two technicians flown in to put it together. Add up the freight, the port handling, the flights and the hotel nights, and a cabin that looked cheap online stops being cheap - and the first service call repeats the entire exercise a second time.

Ours sit ready in Panakkukang - panels, heaters, controllers, all of it. Order one for a townhouse in Hertasning, an apartment near Pettarani or a guest room out in Tamalanrea, and it goes on a truck, crosses the city, and is standing upright within the same week. If an element fails two years down the line, the replacement is already on our shelf.

Power: built for a standard 5,500 VA house

This is the product for a house that either cannot or does not want to upgrade its supply. A 3-3.6 kW heater sits comfortably within what a 5,500 VA connection already provides, so long as the air conditioning and water heater are not all firing at once, and we still run a dedicated breaker, an ELCB and heat-resistant SiHF cable rather than tapping an existing socket circuit. If your meter still reads 2,200 VA, which is common enough on older streets around Daya and parts of Sungguminasa, the choice comes down to a PLN upgrade to 5,500 VA paid by the owner, or switching to an infrared cabin instead. We check a photo of the meter before quoting, so you get that answer early rather than discovering it on installation day.

Living with it day to day, and what it costs

A two-person cabin reaches 80 degrees in around 40 minutes and adds IDR 200,000-500,000 a month at three or four sessions a week. Upkeep is a wipe of the benches, an annual stone check and clean ventilation grilles. Move house within the city and we will dismantle and refit the cabin for an indicative IDR 2-4 million, which is exactly why renters gravitate toward this option in the first place.

Households that outgrow theirs tend to move up to a custom dry sauna and add a plunge alongside it; households stuck on a lower supply move sideways instead, into infrared. Both comparisons, figures included, are on the price page.
